Overseer Frank Mitchell, Jr. was born on March 1, 1948, in Wetumpka, Alabama. He peacefully departed this life on June 5, 2025, at his home in Jackson, AL, under the careful watch of his loving wife.
He received his early education in the Wetumpka school system, attending both grammar and high school there. He went on to study at Huntsville A&M College in Huntsville, Alabama, and later attended Chicago State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, graduating with honors.
On December 22, 1974, he united in holy matrimony with DeWonda Wilder-Mitchell. Their union was blessed with six children.
Overseer Mitchell was a devoted servant of God and faithfully ministered as the pastor of Jackson A.O.H. Church of God for 43 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Frank Mitchell, Sr.; one brother, Steve Mitchell; and two sisters, Christine Harris and Mary Scott.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 50 years, DeWonda Mitchell; six children:
Shantera (Lynn) Perkins, Timothy (Stephanie) Mitchell, Leandra (Jerome) Kidd, Quentin (Meghan) Mitchell, Dawn Mitchell, and Justin (Adrienne) Mitchell; five brothers: Columbus (Eloyse) Mitchell, Lewis (Barbia) Mitchell, and Robert Mitchell, all of Wetumpka, AL; James E.
Mitchell of Omaha, NE; and Curtis (Pamela) Mitchell of Montgomery, AL; five sisters: Donna (Nelson) Thomas, Martha (Michael) Moore, and Margaret Green, all of Montgomery, AL; Ethel (Jack) Stewart of Wetumpka, AL; and Willie Catherine (Charles) Shelling of Grady, AL; one sister-in-law, Vidalia Brady; one brother-in-law, Samuel Brooks; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a special godchild, Latora Jones; special friends, Elder Lucille Henry, Bishop Robert Bonner, and Deacon O.T. Anderson; the beloved family of Jackson A.O.H.
