Parrish Ezell Obituary

Mr. Parrish Boydell Ezell, lovingly known as Tootie, was born on February 10, 1963, to Andrew and Eula Mae Ezell. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with St. Union Baptist Church.    It was here that a faith was instilled in him that would sustain him throughout his life. Parrish traded time for eternity on April 26, 2024. He was 61 years of age.

Mr. Parrish Ezell was a proud graduate of the Jackson High School Class of 1982. He was a phenomenal athlete who displayed his school pride by playing football, basketball, and baseball for the Aggies. His great athleticism led to him being scouted by the minor league Chicago Cubs. He was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan.

In 1985, Parrish was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Doctors gave him a grim diagnosis, but God said otherwise and saw fit to grace him with many more years. He could often be heard sharing his powerful testimony of how he progressed from the bed to a walker, from a walker to a cane, and from a came to nothing. Parrish's strong faith never wavered, and he was proud to share his testimony every time he had the opportunity. He truly loved God, and he was never ashamed to praise, worship, and spread the gospel of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Parrish later united with the Jackson AOH Church of God and served faithfully as a deacon until his health failed in April of 2023. He delighted in his duties, so much so that one could see and feel his love for Christ by the way he served others. Whether visiting the sick and shut-in or serving the elderly in various capacities, he did so with his whole heart. He earnestly believed he could do all things through Christ, and he lived that testimony daily.

He was a pillar of the community, known for spreading the word of praise, wisdom and the love of God. Yet, it was the time he spent with his family that he cherish~d the most. They were always first. He understood that family relationships were both important and eternal, so he was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed making memories with his immediate and huge extended family that were filled with love'happiness, and laughter... lots of laughter. He reminded them of their importance through his favorite saying, "I love you." His influence on his family is evidenced through his niece and nephew, Parrish and Parisha, his namesakes. He loved easily and often, and his huge heart and smile will never be forgotten.

Mr. Ezell was preceded in death by a sister, Shorron L. Ezell and nephew, Torie L. Ezell. Left to cherish his loving memories are his father and mother, Andrew "Dumas" Ezell and Eula Mae Ezell of Jackson, AL; two brothers: Andrew "Bay" Ezell (Lolitta) of Lawton, Oklahoma and Andrew "Drew" Ezell (Stephanie) of Jackson, AL; four sisters: Saul Conway of Tunica, Mississippi, Annie Jean McKenzie, Cynthia Ezell and Tressie Ezell, all of Jackson, AL; like sisters: Drusilla Bryant, Cassandra "Faye" Beckham, Gracie M. Thomas and Shirley B. Starling, like brothers: Overseer Frank Mitchell, Jr., Dec. Darryl Kidd, Freddie Andrews and Stanley Johnson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, other relatives and numerous friends.
