Reuben Taylor, Jr. was born on June 21, 1958 to the late Ruben Taylor, Sr. and Lillie Bell James-Taylor in Prestwick, AL. Reuben peacefully departed this life on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at his home after courageously fighting a battle with lung cancer.
Affectionately known as "Buddy Taylor" by his family and "The Cement Man" throughout the community. Reuben was loved and respected by all who knew him.
At an early age, he attended Friendship MissionaryBaptist Church and later joined St. Luke Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James E. McGhee, Jr.
Reuben was a proud graduate of Leroy High School, Class of 1976. He went on to become the owner and operator of Taylor Sons & Daughter Cement Company, a business that reflected his hard work, dedication and skill.
Reuben was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben Taylor, Sr. and Lillie Bell James Taylor his brother, Samson Taylor; three sisters; Nancy Taylor, Mary Howell, and JoAnn Gladney; two nieces: Anita Boman and Ashley Howell; two nephews: John Anderson and Jayden Howell.
Reuben leaves to cherish his legacy of love, hard work and humility, two loving and devoted children: LeXander Bryant (Shelby Corley) of Nashville, TN and Shanequa Bryant (Joshua Dickinson) of Mobile, AL.
Reuben leaves to cherish his memory the mother of his children, lifelong friend and devoted caregiver to the end, Drusilla Bryant of Walker Springs, AL. Two bonus children: Llwana Bryant Rogers (Rev. Darin Rogers, Sr.) of Walker Springs, AL and Max "Mario" Bryant ( Lakeshia Hunt) of Gainestown, AL; a proud grandfather of nine grandchildren: two loving and devoted sisters: Voncille Franks, and Peggy Howell; two dedicated caregivers: Christopher Taylor, Sr. and Joneka Anderson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.
