Ruth Lynum, 73, of Saraland, was welcomed into the gates of heaven on June 2, 2021. She was born in Bastrop, Texas on Feb. 17, 1948. Following graduation from high school, she travelled abroad throughout Europe and later relocated to Detroit, Mich., where she met the love of her life. The couple eventually moved to Grove Hill, where she served as the First Lady of Indian Ridge Baptist Church and worked as a phlebotomist at Mobile Infirmary Hospital in Mobile for many years.
To forever cherish her memory, she leaves behind her husband the Rev. Johnnie Lynum Sr.; daughter, Johnnetta Lynum-Clemons (Chris) of Orlando, Fla.; son, Lt. Col. Johnny Lynum II (Melissa) of Leesburg, Va.; brother, Kenneth Strain (Margaret) of Austin, Texas and Ricky Bratton of Detroit; sister, Stephanie Bratton, Detroit; nieces, Icee Strain and Ivy Strain, both of Austin, Texas, and Glenda Simmons (Larnell) of Dallas, Texas; nephew, Shawn Bratton of Detroit; grandchildren, Chloe Clemons, Johnny Lynum III, Mackenzie Lynum and Jace Lynum; and a host of other family members and friends.
