Ruthie Mae Koen, a resident of the Frankville community, made her earthly transition to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 15, 2023, at Washington County Nursing Home in Chatom. Ruthie Mae was born Oct. 19, 1932 to Oddie Manuel and Leo White in State Line, Miss. Confessing Christ at an early age, she joined Mt. Bethel Baptist Church where she served for many years on the Usher Board.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two daughters.
Ruthie Mae loved cooking, fishing, playing bingo and spending time with her family.
Ruthie leaves to cherish her on this earth her two sons, George (Glenda) White of Chicago, Ill., and Ralph (Zanitha) Abston of Chatom; stepchildren, Jessie Mae Peyton, Arthur Koen and Robert "Leo" Koen, all of Frankville, Cheryl (Alflynn) Tyler of Theodore, Celita (Michael) Ransom of Mobile, AL, Cathy (Ronald) Tanner of Birmingham, the Rev. Thomas Smith of Omaha, Neb., Eddie (Francis) Koen of Huntsville and Robert (Shirley) Harmon of Mobile; four grandchildren, Sharnetta (Sam) Neral of Stockton, Calif., Tonell Holcombe of Nashville, Tenn., Mariquis Holcombe of Tuscaloosa and Maiquille Abston of Malcolm; 35 step-grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
