Sally Mae Jones Brown was the first of 10 children born to the parentage of the late Henry Jones and the late Elouise Scruggs Jones on May 24, 1942 in Jackson. She departed this life May 5, 2021 at Walker Baptist Hospital in Jasper.
At an early age she joined the A.O.H. Church of God in Jackson. Sally was an honor student from Harper High School in the Class of 1962. She retired from Vanity Fair following more than 25 years as a seamstress.
Sally married her high school sweetheart, Jessie Williams, and to this union two children were born, Eric Williams and Tracy Williams, who preceded her in death. Later in life, she married Arthur “Bud” Brown Sr. and to this union, two children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son and daughter, and four sisters.
Sally will be forever cherished in the hearts of her family, with her two sons, Arthur Brown Jr. and Kevin (Rosalinda) Brown, both of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Overseer Hosie Jones of St. Stephens and Robert Jones of Jackson; five sisters, Henrietta (Emmitt) Goodwin of Jackson, Fannie Pearson and Cheryl (Willie) Abston, both of St. Stephens, Shander McDonald and Loretha Doss, both of Jackson; god-sister, Sarah (Ronnie) Moore of Sunflower; 10 grandchildren, Charissa (Demond) Williams of Phoenix, Ariz., Takeary Williams of Tucson, Ariz., Quanteria Williams, Arthur Brown III and Javon Brown, all of Cleveland, Ohio, Dayawn Brown, Aliana McCollum and Agueen Brown, all of Tucson, and Andon Silvers of Colorado; eight great-grandchildren, K’yanie, Kaliyah, Antonio Jr., Breeze, Armonie, Demond Jr., Jordon and Holly; two brothers-in-law, David Jackosn Sr. and johnny Martin; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Ware and Lula Mae Brown; one devoted friend, Shirley Morris; with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
