Sam Fail, a resident of the Mt. Zion community of Grove Hill, made his earthly transition on Saturday, Nov. 16,
2024, while at Mobile Infirmary Hospital in Mobile. Sam was born on Oct. 3,1962 to Charlie Mae Chaney and
Willie Chaney in Whatley. At an early age Sam united with Foreman Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson,
presently known as Jackson Street Baptist Church.
A very quiet person, Sam was a hard-working man that truly loved his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents and grandparents; two sisters, Brenda Fail Ezell and Bobbie Jean
Thompson; four aunts; and two brothers-in-law, Larry G. Purifoy and Alford Todd.
Sam leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Jorvelle (Zelperita) Morris of Princeton, Texas and Renaldo
Bonner of Toddtown; one daughter, Kenya Fail of Walker Springs; four grandchildren, Shuntavia, Chivez,
JaKendria and Renaldo Jr.; two great-grandchildren, McKenzie and K.J.; three sisters, Lillie Todd of Jackson, Sadie
Jackson of Montgomery and Debbie Purifoy of Pinson; four brothers, James (Wendy) Chaney and Mark Chaney,
both of Jackson, and Robert Chaney and Willie Chaney Jr., both of Pennington; one uncle, John (JoAnn) Fail of
Toledo, Ohio; a devoted friend and caregiver, Florine (Cookie) Jamison of Walker Springs; with a host nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
