Shanavie Latrice Henderson was born and raised in Grove Hill, Alabama, and was a resident of Jackson, Alabama. She entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 12, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late Freeman Henderson and the late JoeAnn Horn. Shanavie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life touched many people in her community and beyond.
Shanavie was a graduate of Clarke County High School, Class of 1996. She was a devoted member of Clarkesville A.O.H. Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Lucille V. Henry, where she faithfully served as the Youth Director and Sunday School Secretary. Shanavie had a heart for guiding and encouraging young people and was known for her kindness, wisdom, and dedication to her church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joann Horn and Freeman Henderson; and her brothers, James Ferrell, Everette Armonn Henderson, and Barry Mitchell.
Shanavie leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory. She is survived by her children, Takiyah Patrick (Kendrick), Jania McKinney, and Yasmin McKinney; and her cherished grandson, Jayden Patrick. She also leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Darrell (Bonnie) Henderson; and her sisters, Annette (Levester) Robinson and Patricia Johnson (Zachary).
She shared a special bond with her god-sisters, Sharanda Wright and Jaleesa Martin, and her god-brother, Nick Martin. She was also blessed with a devoted cousin, Shawanda Leonard, who held a special place in her heart. Shanavie was also blessed with close friendships that meant the world to her, including her best friends, Lorene Dickinson and Janice Jackson.
She will also be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Dwight Chapman Jr., Kizzie Richardson-Smith, Cedric Williams, Brianna Stone, and many more; along with a host of aunts, uncles, one devoted uncle, Jesse Leonard, other relatives, and friends who will deeply miss her presence.
Shanavie’s life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication to family and community. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
