Shawn Smith Obituary

Shawn Smith was born on July 11, 1961 in Mount Vernon, AL to the late Susan Munnerlyn Smith and Roosevelt Smith. He was the oldest of three children. Shawn made his heavenly transition on February 4, 2020 at Providence Hospital in Mobile, AL.

Shawn graduated from Ellison High School in Killeen, Texas in 1979. After working for a short period of time, he joined the United States Air Force where he served our country for eight years and five months. He served in Spain and Clovis, New Mexico as a Communications Computer Systems Operator. During Shawn's Air Force career, he received numerous awards such as Air Force Good Conduct Medal W/1 Device. Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon W/1, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon and a NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon. Although Shawn received many military awards, his greatest achievement was his relationship to God.

Shawn served as a Deacon in his church while stationed in Clovis, New Mexico. When he returned to his home state of AL in 2004, he joined Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church in Bladon Springs, AL. He served as a Deacon until his health began to fail.

Shawn leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted and loving wife, Audrey Smith of the home address; two sisters Keachia (Willie) Witherspoon and Miram King of Hampton, Virginia; three sisters-in-law; Elizabeth and Rebecca Coker of Bladon Springs, AL, Beverly Bass of Mobile, AL.; one brother-in-law; Henry (Louvina) Coker of Jackson, AL.; aunts: Gladys (Lionel) Cartwright of Fayetteville, NC., Ernestine Tarver of Port Chester, NY., Margaret Munnerlyn of Mobile, AL., and Rosie Merida of Frankville, AL.; uncles: Rev. Freddy (Donna) Campbell of Mobile, AL., Samuel Davis, Jr. of Mobile, AL.; two devoted cousins, Babette Munneryln of Hampton, Virginia and Tiffany Lee of North Prince George, Virginia, devoted nieces and nephews: Danielle and Brayden Heckstall of Hampton, VA., a goddaughter; Jakayla Cowan and the Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church Youth Department.
