Stella Louise Thomas Pogue was born Nov. 23, 1948 in Savannah, Ga., to the union of Jonas Thomas and Carrie Estella Brown. Stella was affectionately called “Louise” by all of her family members. Louise went on to join her Savior Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020.
Her mother, Carrie, married Leroy Henry Cason Sr. in 1950 and together they raised Stella to be a warm, caring person.
Louise attended Miami-Dade College for one year; Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, where she majored in biology; and finally the graduate biology program at St. John’s University in New York. She used her training in biology at Kaiser Permanente in their genetic division. She also worked at United Technologies where she tested the stability of solid rocket fuel.
On Nov. 19, 2017 Stella gave her heart to the Lord and along with her husband, David, was baptized at the Lewis Grove Baptist Church in Wagarville.
Preceding her in death were her mother, Carrie; stepfather, Leroy; and sister, Patricia Elizabeth Cason.
Louise leaves to cherish her memories her husband, David Pogue; son, Justin Pogue of San Jose, Calif.; daughter, Nicolette Bishop of Forney, Texas; two grandchildren, Avery Elizabeth Bishop and Julian Danger Bishop; sisters and brothers, Margarita (Bernard) Mitchell of High Springs, Fla., Marilyn Denice Harris, Leroy Henry Cason Jr. and Jeffery Carl (Delvia) Cason of Miami, Fla.; with a host of neices, nephews, many loving family members and special friends, the late Louise Ponds, Sandra Sample and Terrele Schumake of San Jose, Calif., and Brenda Raine of Plano, Texas.
