Tallie Nettles Obituary

Tallie Nettles Jr., a resident of Sedan, better known to family and friends as "Uncle Junior” or “Tallie Junior," made his earthly transition on Monday, May 31, 2021 at his residence surround by his family. He was born on Dec. 14, 1948 to Louise and Tallie Nettles Sr. Early in life, he became a member of the Wayman Chapel AME Church in Sedan, remaining faithful until his demise. He attended Camden Academy and following high school began his career at Reeves Farms, remaining until his retirement. Tallie was quiet but helpful, and would certainly help you if he could. He enjoyed his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and spending time with his family. Tallie was also known for his great mechanical skills. 

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Alice Nettles; his daughter, Tracey Nettles; brothers, Clarence Nettles, Dowell James, Donald Knight and Roy Wright; his sister, Vera Williams; and a great-grandson, Dominic McKinley. 

Left to cherish his loving memories are his two daughters, Sharon (Rufus) Nettles and Kimberly (Willie) Nettles, both of Sedan; two sons, Clarence Edward Dortch of Taylorville, Misss., and Recarter (Crystal) James of Cantonment, Fla.; five granddaughters, Kierra Mack and Kerrigan Barkley, both of Sedan, Dy'Nesha, Sanquinetta and Quartaylius James, all of Cantonment, Fla.; eight grandsons, Tyran Nettles, Jalen Henry, Braxton Henry, Treshawn Averhart and Traevion Nettles of Sedan, A'Quantis James of Cantoment, Jason Dortch of Buffalo, N.Y. and Clarence Dortch Jr. of Taylorsville, Miss.; 11 great-grandchildren, Messiah Mack of Sedan, Ja'Kari, Jeshawn, Emani, Trenton Jr., Carter, Messiah, Steven Jr., Prince, ZaDaraian and Cali, all of Cantonment; two brothers-in-law, Clifton James of Melbourne, Fla. and George James of Pensacola; three sisters-in-law, Johnita James of Vredenburgh, Mary James of Pensacola and Mattie Qualls of Cantonment; a devoted nephew, David James of Calera; four devoted nieces, Antonte Wright of Beatrice, Shailer Lawson and Mary James, both of Vrednburgh, and Brenda Dean of Pensacola; special friend, Autherine Washington of Vredenburgh; and a host of other nieces, nephews cousins and friends. 

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 5, 2:30 p.m., at Rich Hill Cemetery in Sedan.
