Terris Martin Obituary

Bro. Terris Dekeith "Tech 9" Martin, a native of Whatley, Alabama and a resident of the Indian Ridge Community was born the second child of Leonard and Janice Morrissette Martin November 24, 1979, in Grove Hill, Alabama.

"Tech" as he was affectionately called grew up in the Indian Ridge Community surrounded by a loving family.  He was baptized and became a member of Indian Ridge Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Johnny Lynn Sr.

Terris was a proud member of the Clarke County High Graduating Class of 1999 where he excelled as an exceptional athlete in both basketball and football. He was highly recruited by the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and attended college in California and Mississippi. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of Scotch Lumber Company for over 15 years.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard his call. I turned my back and left it all.  I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work, to play.  Tasks left undone must stay that way. I've found that peace at the end of the day.   Saturday, August 3, 2025, around 7:30 p.m. God and his heavenly angels whispered, "Sweet Child Come Home to Rest. "Tech went home to be with God at Ochsner Choctaw General Hospital in Butler, Alabama.

Bro. Martin's favorite saying was "FAMILY OVER EVERYTHING" and his legacy of love and will forever be affectionately remembered by his family and friends. cherishing his memories always will be his devoted, caring, loving and supportive parents, Leonard and Janice Martin of Whatley, AL; devoted sister, Tyronda (Minister Antonio Davis Sr.) of Haymarket, Virginia; devoted brother, Keith "Champ" Welch of Grove Hill, AL; Special friend, Rose Kilpatrick of Putnam, Alabama; devoted Uncle, Gregory (Carmen) Martin of Hatzfeld, Germany; a special Aunt Denise "Lil Lady" Martin of Whatley, AL (Kenneth Clyde Lynum); Special nieces & nephew, Ariana, Adrianna, Aniyah, Jayla, Jah'Miyah, Shanautica, Harmony, Tah'kyia, Jordan & great-nieces and nephews  Jacee, J'Veon & Jace; Special Cousins raised as nieces and nephews, Cadeirda, Amarion "D.J.", Braylee, Donte Jr. and his precious Kerron "K.C.", Special first cousins, Julian, Johanna & Shannon; Devoted cousins Shirley Bradley, Malinda Taite, Daphine Abston, Gardenia Martin, Emma Jean Martin, Tammy, Tisa & Monique Morrissette; Great Aunts Bessie Williams, Gracie Portis, Virgia Holt, Irma Martin, Shirley Taylor, Alice Armstead, Jannie Mae Taite and Deborah Dockett; Great Uncle, Anthony Mitchell.
