Tommie Lee Lewis

Tommie Lee "Chico" Lewis was born March 16, 1941 in Grove Hill to the late Essie Mae Calhoun and Charlie Lewis. He departed this earthly life on Monday, May 8, 2023 while at his home. 

"Chico," as he was affectionately known to family and friends, joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grove Hill, later joining Pine Chapel No. 1 Baptist Church. He remained a faithful member until his health failed. 

Looking back over his life, Tommie worked for Scotch Lumber for 10 years. He then became a driver for Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 25 years. After being injured, he retired, staying home enjoying his family.

Chico enjoyed being with family and friends laughing, joking, playing with his great-grandchildren who were his life and everything. 

“Dad you are missed now and we will miss you always.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Essie Mae Calhoun and Charlie Lewis, wife, O'melia Hannon Lewis; two daughters, Charlotte Lewis and Vicki Law; one son, Victor Jerome Lewis; son-in-law, Alfred James Law; and two siblings, Lucille Lewis Chapman and Niece Valerie Lewis.

Tommie leaves to cherish his sweet precious memories a devoted caring daughter, Kim ( Joseph) Adams of Grove Hill; two devoted sons, Perry (Steven) Lewis of Las Vegas, Nev., and Randy (Kim) Lewis of Montgomery; six devoted grandchildren, Reginald Law,Taijuana Law both of Grove Hill; Jacquita Mitchell of Mobile, Jessica Lewis of Arkon Ohio, Hasan and Jabril Muhammed of Troy, Al; seven great grand children, Haylie and Danielle Mitchell of Mobile, Kaylie and Lawerence Williams, Jr. of Jackson, Jaylen and Amuri of Grove Hill and Je'Merius Henderson of Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Josephine (James) Jackson and Sherri (Jessie) Caldwell, both of Lithonia, Ga.; two devoted aunts, Carrie Lean (Willie D.) Laffitte of Grove Hill and Bobbie Jean Pugh of Mt Vernon; two sisters-in-law, Lillie McClain of Cleveland, Ohio and Margaret Hannon of Leeville, La.; one brother-in-law, Jamie Lee Portis of the Toddtown community; two devoted cousins, Henry Frank Calhoun of Upper Marlboro, Md. and Linzy Calhoun of Grove Hill; devoted friends, Nesby English, James Dickinson, Clarence Law, Creola Wesley, Chris Chambers and Chene Calhoun; with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
