William Louis King, a resident of the Whatley community , answered the Master ' s call on July 11, 2023 while at USA Health South in Mobile. He was born on June 13, 1960 to Dessie Lee Tate. Louis was a graduate of Clarke County High School of 1979. Employed with the Clarke County Board of Education for 41 years, he began his career as a custodian there and later became the school's resource officer. At Clarke County High School, Louis was so many things to so many people. Throughout the years, Louis touched more lives than will ever be known. From giving students money, to opening lockers or providing a ride home , he believed that no child should ever be without and he treated everyone the same.
Employed with the Grove Hill Police Department where he served for more than 36 years under five different police chiefs, his experiences were used as a teaching tool for the young officers that joined the force.
Louis was also the owner and operator of L'& L Flooring Clean Service.
He was a man who was loved by many and had great care and compassion for all the students that came through the doors of CCHS.
During his spare time, which he didn't have very much of, he loved watching Alabama football.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Dessie and Charlie Hollins, father and mother in law, Cleveland Leggett and Janie Leggett.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife , Ledora Leggett King of Whatley, daughter, Andrenika King of Lower Peachtree, grandchildren, Amor King, Kendarius Reed and O' Layla Kid all of Lower Peachtree, his siblings, George (Arolinia ) King of Lower Peachtree, Jerry Hollins of Whatley and Willie Ann (Bryant) Jones of Dixion Mill, sister in law, Sammie Robinson of St Louis, MO, Sonya Leggett and Debra Leggett both of Walker Springs , brothers in law, Eddie Leggett and Willie Leggett both of Walker Springs, with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and devoted coworker. Penny Law, along with all the students, faculty and staff of CCHS , Grove Hill Police Department and Clarke County Sheriff Department , and too many friends to name them all.
