Willie James Wright

Willie James “Buddy” Wright was born on Feb. 05, 1934 to the late Willie Wright and Gadella Wright in Grove Hill. On Dec. 16, 2019 the Lord called His soldier home from the battlefield to give him rest.

Willie was preceded in death by his mother and father; two sons, Fredrerick and Lennie Wright; three sisters, Ruby Robinson, Lynda Wright Malone and Adella Wright.

Willie joined church at an early age at the Wilson Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Graduating from Wilson Hall School in 1951, he then enlisted in the United States Armed Forces where he proudly served his country for 20 years. After retiring from the Armed Forces, Willie worked 22 years for Anheuser-Busch Company through Teamster Union. On Nov. 29, 1986, Willie and Dawn were joined in holy matrimony and to this union one child was born. 

Willie leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Dawn P. Wright; two loving sons, Tony Wright of Los Angeles, Calif., and Eric Wright of Grove Hill; two devoted daughters, Jamiemarie (Ivy) Lang of Mobile and Dawn (Jamie) Todd of Grove Hill; 12 grandchildren, Camille, Anthony, Michael, Edriese, Jeyrahmee, Floyd III, Deveion, Kyren, Kaylin, Kelby, Kaydence and Kierra; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Burroughs and Dorothy Wright; three aunts, Axie Mae Burroughs, Wilcy Mae Boykin and Ada Rowland; one uncle, Elvin Fox; four devoted nephews, Nolan Chapman, Russell Wright, Dwight Wright and Cyrus Wright; two loving caregivers, Rosa and Reginald Clarke; with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives; along with many friends.

Final life celebration has been entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, 203 East Ross St., Jackson, AL 36545.
