Yevon McMillian Obituary

Yevon McMillian was born May 12, 1958 to the late Dec. E.C. Causey and Bessie Lee Causey. She answered her call on April 8, 2021 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. 

Yevon joined Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early age. She was very active in the church, including serving as the president of the Pastor’s Aide Club, serving on the mission board and helping with the youth.

On Nov. 29, 1983, she married the love of her life, Orville McMillian. 

Yevon was well known for her decorative talent and her beautiful garden of flowers. “Toosie,” as she was affectionately known, was a very kind and compassionate person who went out of her way to help others.

Preceding her in death were her parents; the Late Dec. EC and Bessie Lee Causey; sister, Lorene Thornton; brother, Leo Causey; devoted niece, Shawanda O’Neal; sister-in-law, Kimberly Kennedy; brother-in-law, Norville McMillian; with a host of other family members that were dear to her heart.

Yevon leaves to cherish her memories her loving, devoted and caring husband, Orville McMillian; three daughters, Tanyel (Cortez) Powe, Yevonda (Shacarto) London and devoted daughter, Shauntae Causey; son, Marlon (Patricia) McMillian; Like a son: Larry Campbell, Jr.; 12 grandchildren, Destanie, DeAnche, KeAnthony, Gabrielle, Za’Riyah, Ziggy, Khalii, Marley, Aubree, three grandchildren she raised as her own, Kendarius, Deniyah and Briana; four great-grandchildren, Kentavious, Ivy, Heiress and Amari; four sisters, two devoted, Shirley Scruggs, Brunell Levette, Adella (Charles) Powe and Marcella (Ullysses) Powe; two brothers, Luther (Paula) Causey and Leon (Christine) Causey; five sisters-in-law, Linda McMillian, Sadie Dickinson, Leslie Dickinson, Marilynn Dickinson and Sherry Ann McMillian; four brothers-in-law, Willie (Rebecca) McMillian, Cederic (Cindy) Dickinson, Steve (Alfredia) Dickinson and Jerry Kennedy; two aunts, Evelyn (George) Roscoe and Rosie Bell Causey; one uncle, Monroe (Juanita) Causey Sr.; three devoted nieces, Melinda Malone, Tamela Mason and Tonya McGhee; devoted nephew, Demetrius Powe; two devoted cousins, Yolanda Courts and Voncille Craig; devoted friend, Alice Mae Causey; with a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
